What we drive

Every rental starts with matching the vehicle to the trip. A day around Kigali needs something different from a week in Akagera or a wedding morning. This page sets out the classes of vehicle we work with, so you can see the range before asking for a quote. Specific models, years and current availability are confirmed when you enquire, since the fleet changes with demand and season.

Saloon cars

Economical, easy to park and enough for city use, meetings and airport runs on tarmac roads. See car rental in Kigali.

SUVs

More comfort and ground clearance than a saloon, suited to a mix of city driving and trips to Musanze or Lake Kivu on decent roads.

4x4 vehicles

Toyota Prado and Land Cruiser class 4x4s for Akagera, the volcano approach roads, Nyungwe and wet-season travel. See 4x4 safari car rental and Toyota Land Cruiser hire.

Rooftop tent 4x4s

A Land Cruiser fitted with a rooftop tent for independent camping at permitted campsites. See 4x4 with rooftop tent.

Minibuses and coasters

Group transport for conferences, family reunions and tour groups, with a driver included. See minibus and coaster hire.

Event vehicles

Smart saloons and SUVs presented for weddings and events. See wedding and event car hire.

Condition and maintenance

Driver or self-drive

Every vehicle class can come with a driver-guide, and most can be self-driven by a qualified visitor. See car hire with a driver-guide and self-drive Rwanda for what each involves. Our article on self-drive vs car hire with a driver helps you decide, and Land Cruiser vs RAV4 compares two common choices.

Longer hire

If you need a vehicle for weeks or months rather than a single trip, see long-term and monthly car rental.

  2. We suggest a vehicle class from the fleet and confirm availability.
